    Default Rock Bluff Spring

Would someone please direct me or email me with info about this spring.

Located it this weekend and thought I'd dive it this Fall.

Since I've not heard anything about it, I thought it best to ask what kind of dive it is before I exert a lot of energy to return to it.

    Would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.

There is some information and a system map on this system here - http://www.tampadiving.com/sections/...stem.asp?ID=69

Be prepared to dig out the entrance if you get permission to dive.

    Default Rock Bluff

I have dove this spring many times by boat...only once backmount, never again.
The entrance is very tight for backmount and must be dug out. I even went in upside down so that my tanks were in the gravel. Much better sidemount. But, even then the flow can sometimes be so high after a flood that you can't get in. Once inside the flow eases quickly as the tunnel increases in size. There are two feeder tunnels. The first jump off the main line, to the left, occurs in the first 20' off main passage and is the other feeder tunnel and the larger easier dive...I prefer this direction. The main line has a few 100' of easy tunnel then get very tight even for sidemount. I can only get through with one tank off and contorting my body...definitely solo no mater how many "buddies" are on the dive with you. This is a very interesting system and worth the effort if you are up for the challanges.

Rock Bluff was actually the first place I ever dived in FL. I've got a few pictures on this page:
    http://homepages.cae.wisc.edu/~brods...a/florida.html
Skip the first photo of Peacock and then the next half dozen or so images are in Rock Bluff. There's a photo of the entrance and the tight restriction described elsewhere. They were both passable when I was there in 2002. I'd love to go back - it's really a beautiful system.

Be careful though, I've heard that someone was trapped by a cave-in in the entrance several years ago and had to be pulled out by his buddies.
