    Why not?
Because it is difficult and someone would have to do it and follow up on it..
Why is the US electrical grid 2 centuries behind state of the art?
Because it is peacework and it would take a great effort and needs state cross border multipartisan Support.
The impossibilty of that being the foundation for the US offshore renewable energy industry. Economically it would make much more sence to build offshore in the states and areas whith good resource and then transport it with 21st century Transmission. The latter is not exciting and seems undoable in the current system but building offshore involving only federal beurocracy and a single State seems feasible to bring Cleaner energy to the coastal metropolitan areas so that is the path taken..
Sorry for the sidetrack but it is a good example where the difficulties would be with your approach.
It would have to be done via the agencies which would first have to be align3d and stated a common view..

As Nitrogenius says: "Not gonna happen"

In my opinion, half the fun of cave diving is doing your own exploration. Maps are nice but unfortunately divers sometimes take it upon themselves to change lines and jumps and so on. Maps should only be used as a general reference. Why would you want to standardize all the jumps anyway? You can increase your learning curve by putting in a gap reel and see where it goes!

Sidetrack, that was more like a Teutonic tantrum or Bavarian B###h fest....

I agree half the fun is exploration. Unfortunately with the advent of sidemount, everything that looks like an opening now has gouge marks.

There are too many ego's for a consensus. Also there is no consistentcy even within the CDS. I remember after the dual fatality at Eagle's Nest they decided that gold line T's were not to exist in Florida. The TD at the time even stated that none existed except for the one in Eagle's Nest. This T was basically 3k feet back at almost 300' deep and it had to be removed because it was the only gold line T in North Florida. If this T is to be considered a hazard wouldn't the gold line T to the Century Tunnel in HITW that could be reached by an good intro diver be more dangerous? What about all the gold line T's in JB? If a cave agency such as the CDS can't even be consistent then how do you think competitors would ever agree on the best thing to do?

Marking jumps as a team -- I think a good way is for each team member to drop a non-directional marker on the exit side of the line being jumped from. In this manner if team members become separated beyond the jump they may see each team members' marker when they return. If all markers are still in place the team will know that the separated member is still beyond the jump. If they see that team members' marker missing they can know the separated team member has left the jump and headed to the exit.

There’s even a gold line t at little river than intro divers can reach.

I think this is a great premise on which to base a predive plan discussion to make certain the whole team is on the same page. Part of every pre-dive review for me includes a review of nav decisions and how they are going to be addressed.

    It’s actually more of a Y than a T shape, so it doesn’t count.
