So, why don't we consider standardizing how jumps are marked?

Hike your own hike.
Is not that in the cave diving manual?
Now it seems many cave divers want to make their own rules and ignore the standardized rules. Just my opinion and what I have noticed. Newish cave divers that will quit in a few years think they know better then the older long term divers.

People not agreeing where the primary line should start at Peacock resulted in an incident that almost caused the state to close the park to cave diving until the safety issue was sorted out. Important making changes can have an impact with outcomes that we may not like.

Thanks Forrest.
I think one of the issues with this is that there are dozens of agencies certifying cave divers these days. I can think of at least 10 agencies in Europe nobody's ever heard of and they all pumping out instructors as well as divers... and some of them are also traveling to FL and Mx. ETDO, SUB, VDHT, ISE, Protec, atec, IDA... all you need is a card printer, a couple of buddys (ITs and ICs), a website and you're good to go.
