I had to take my doubles off once in zero vis in a tight spot in the deep section of Little River. That was interesting and I was glad I practice doing that from time to time while on deco.
That tunnel was originally negotiated by Roger Werner (Circa 78-79). I was with him when he did this. We were diving downstream from either Olsen or Challenge, I believe Challenge. We got to the "Pothole line" and he went off to the right. I waited on on the line for him, which was not unusual for him to do to me. We exited at Peacock and he informed me the tunnel he had swam in by Pothole intersected the Waterhole line. At that time what is now called the "Peanut line" was the Waterhole line. The Waterhole line ran continuous from the Peacock side (beyond the restriction where the line started) to Waterhole. The way on to the Peanut restriction was a jump off the Waterhole line.
As an aside, at that time you had to know where the restriction for the Waterhole line was was, and the line started beyond the restriction. However, as time passed you just looked for the banged out section on the right. Not to mention, you actually had to run your reel (oh, the horror) from the entry to the restriction. If you missed the restriction you ended up in the The Mistake.
Kevin Gonzalez thanks for sharing that story

I wondered how the mistake got its name thank you for the information. Makes a lot of sense.
