Do not go gentle into that good night.
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I use 1:1 mixture of alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. Works well.
I use thirds of rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar.
Been using it for 18 years with no ill effects.

There are plenty of medical professionals on here, so why should anyone listen to a reg tec with a music degree? Simple. My ears trap water.
Ever since I was a lifeguard in high school I've had earaches regularly because water stays in my ears. When I began diving I usually couldn't clear after the third day. So around 1991 I had a boat captain tell me about ear beer. He said to put several drops in each ear before each dive, then after the dive, shake my head like a dog (yes, he said that, and I do it), then put several more drops in each ear. Results: when I do it diligently, I have NEVER had a problem. When I let it slide (or forget) I have ear problems. Almost always.
My ear beer is one-third each hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, and distilled white vinegar. I've had many medical professionals tell me why one part or another of this regimen is wrong, but when it works EVERY time, I'm sticking with it.
Whoever said money can't buy love never bought a puppy.
I'm a pharmacist and used exactly the same formula on my last year's Full Cave course in Mexico. 1/3rd of each (I have 70% Isopropyl Alcohol in my pharmacy and a 5% white vinegar at the grocery store available to me).
Apply few drops to each ear and lay down for 5 minutes on each side, twice a day, morning and evening, before and after day's diving activities. It worked like a charm (my previous visit in Mexico gave me a full blown ear infection after 3 days in caves).
I have also recommended that recipe for a nurse here, and he has used it with great success (previous history of ear infections after snorkeling).
Which Hydrogen Peroxide percentage 3%, 6%, 30% or the commercial 70-98% which needs special handling?
I can order and get whatever I want, but I sure don't want to store rocketfuel in my diving garage unnecessarily.
Michael
I don't think they should call it 'beer' unless you can drink it after you're done cleaning your ears.
98% peroxide, plus a shake of the head will DEFINITELY clear out your ears!

I use:
- 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
- 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
- 5% White Vinegar
1:1:1 ratio. 5 drops into each ear twice a day (before and after day's diving activities). Lay down on each side for 5 mintues after application to allow solution to work it's way through.
Use regularly during diving days.
