I think that's it but it has limited range.

Yeah, RFID tags have a range from inches to a few (dozen at most) feet.

Sorry to hear the SS was stolen.

How about inventing a product like a LoJack for scooters.

It's just very strange that this has happened 3 times in a very short period of time at 3 different dive sites. It's almost sounds like they are all related. Obviously the thief has observed the gearing up process, knows how long you will be gone, or how long it takes you to go from point A to point B. It's not like scooters are lightweight gear that you can snatch and run.

I'm not so sure it's not someone close to the community in a remote capacity if that makes sense. A new or old diver new to the cave community with less that scrupulous intentions. How many posts have we seen on this forum and other more "newbie" forums on how much cave equipt costs? In the thief's mind he/she may think there's a market out there. I don't necessarily infer that he/she is a caver, but it could be a "wannabe" who's reading various scuba boards and "sees" the proverbial "need".

If you set up a sting, and talk about it in the forums here and elsewhere, you may get your answer.........

    Just my 2 cents.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world; those who are good at math, and those who are not.

    Default Gypse

That is why I say it is traveling Gypses that work an area then move south. I bet you will find that gear in south Florida.

    Gary:

I was a police officer for 33-1/2 years and am amazed at you getting the lack of respect and the lack of help that you should've received. That's got to be one sorry-ass and ineffective sheriff's department. Who's running it? Barney Fife?

At least the Sheriff's Dept followed up with the GFPD once we got them to actually take a report (not that anyhing came of that). GFPD refused to take prints at the sceene or follow up on the Licence number or the address and when we called them said flat out that unless we were left bleeding in the gutter they couldn't do anything.

Who's running GFPD??? Barney Fife's got far more credibility in my opinion.

Er , there's a pair of Air Jordan's down on the platform at Royal...I found them last weekend. Someone put rocks in the shoes and sunk them...
I put them on the platform just in case the owner comes back looking for them.

    I wonder !!!

What happened to low tech ideas like electro-penciling your name somewhere inside, or like I used to do with bikes, roll a business card up and insert in the seat pipe.
