Thread: Iceland cave

  1. #1

    Default Iceland cave

    Found on Reddit:

Scootered across a lake to dive an unexplored cave

Here is a short 2min video from todays dive. We travelled 3km on our 90minute dive across an Icelandic lake to explore what is thought to be the outflow from the famous Silfra Fissure.

What kind of details do you have from the cave? Depth, penetration, is it lined/previously explored, anything unique or interesting? Looks like fun but cold!?

I saw that on Fraser's instagram the other day. Being outside the park, it theoretically won't get you thrown in jail to dive it. That being said, the entire region is still geologically active, but I plan on diving it anyway the next time I go to Iceland.

I just got back from Iceland yesterday. HOLY COW is it expensive. Flying back through NYC I chuckled how everything in NYC seemed cheap.

How was the trip as a whole? My wife and I have been wanting to go to Iceland for a few years but haven’t had the time. I knew being an island that’s frozen half the year would mean it would be expensive for everything. Plus it’s becoming a US tourist destination increasing prices

Iceland is great and it doesn't have to be that expensive just rent your own car stay away from the over priced tours you can pretty much do it all yourself and grocery stores and cooking yourself is way cheaper than trying to go out to eat. Forget about grabbing a craft beer at the bar, they're like $15 each.
