Default When do you change your hoses?

    How is it hanging folks?
The other day on deco I noticed an imprint on one of my lp hoses which I guess is the date of production (?). It says 06-99 and if it actually is the date I'm gonna throw it out. It still looks pretty good but I guess 20 years is pushing it. I have only ever changed hoses when they started to look like they ought to be changed.
I have a bunch of hoses that are 10 plus year and I wonder whether I should chuck them.

So my question is: Do you guys throw out your hoses after x amount of years or hours of use or do you wait untill they start to look sketchy?

    Thx

I wait. I do inspect them for cracks, etc before each dive.

I wait until they have some sort of leak, crack, etc. If you aren't using them in a pool or giving them excessive UV exposure, there's no reason they can't go at least 20 years

swap to 9's for stage bottles. Larger bend radius and less prone to cracking IME

Do you fold them back and tie them so you can read them? If so, that will cause them to fail much faster than only bending them to read.

especially if you unfold them after ever dive. Much better for them to stay static

Nope, I have them start leaking both on my side mount tanks (they stick straight out) and stages where I do not fold them. I have bought them from multiple places, and they are stored in a dark, dry storage bin when not in use.

I like the idea of trying a 9" for the stages, make it easier to read anyways.

Until they start leaking, I don't change them. The hoses on my backmount set are of various ages, with the oldest being almost 15 years old. If it ain't broke and all. I'll be getting all new hoses for my sidemount set, but I've only just put it together in the last couple months. I'll replace those, too, whenever they start bubbling.
