Default Primary reel taken from the eye at ginnie springs friday 2/8

My primary reel (red diverite primary with FCMC etched on the handle) was taken from the eye at Ginnie Springs on friday 2/8. I installed it for the first dive (two dives planned) i know it was still installed on the exit of the first dive, the second dive was scrubbed so i had asked an instructor friend that was parked next to us if he could pull the reel for us on his next dive i was later informed by him that the reel was not there, the reel had been in the cave less than 4hrs. WTF. If someone who was diving that day at Ginnie pulled it by mistake i would like it back PM me no harm done, as far as i know at this time no one has turned it in to Ginnie or anything posted on this fourm in lost and found. I don't know what else to do at this time other that make it known to the cave diving community of this incident.

    Wow!!!

Please post information about what happened later, if someone took the reel in the intent to steal it I would consider that to be attempted murder. I have dived Ginnie and obviously there is little risk of not finding the exit but thats not the point.

Little risk if all is good on the way out. It all goes to hell with a little stress: a new diver that had *anything* go wrong, any cave incident, a photographer silting up the place (flow or not), etc. this is truly remarkable, even if it was taken by mistake-maybe worse.

i highly doubt any sort of attempted murder would stand, but still pretty messed up if a cave diver did it. May have been an OW or cavern diver. For the record i already have one of those fine pieces of equipment so i would have no use for another.

I think someone was doing you a favor disposing of your red dive rite reel. It means it's time for an upgrade to a halcyon or LM
