Default Trimix fills with dedicated trimix doubles ?

I?d love to be able to take a trimix class to be able to access some deeper sections of caves and maybe even some wreck diving but the high cost of trimix is a big turn off. What is everyone?s experience with keeping a dedicated set of tanks just for trimix to keep the cost down. I don?t plan on needing anything deeper than 180 beyond that then I?ll buy a rebreather before I go there.

Dedicating a set of doubles is pretty standard, I think. The cost of trimix savings will quickly pay for the new set of tanks.

That's how everyone I know that dives trimix without a rebreather does it...

Yes, I have a set of heavier Coyne tanks that seem like a pretty good option for me. The He adding a little positive buoyancy makes these tanks a little better.

And when you go CCR, you will still need the tri mix tanks for bail out....

Dedicated trimix tanks is the way to go.

I have a set of tanks laying around that I boost "scraps" of trimix into. The "scraps" are usually gasses leftover from classes, or helium leftover in a supply cylinder. Those tanks always wind up having some oddball mix in them, but with a booster, I can usually come up with something that's usable in my rebreather, if not for open circuit.

I will echo what everyone else is saying here. Keep a set of doubles dedicated for Trimix and top as needed. 18/45 is a good standard mix that's good to 190 and useful for several sites in the area Kyle. It's also very easy to top up at the shop here since we bank 10/70.

Yep, I keep a dedicated set with 18/45 in it. Keeps the cost down and is fairly versatile over a wide range of depth.

Yes, for both normoxic and hypoxic fills: my husband and I each had bailout tanks that we could just pull from the shed as needed. Everything is in storage in Florida now - there?s not much need for helium here in Mexico - but I think we had steel bailout bottles filled with 18/45 and 10/65 or similar, as well as a couple of matching stages.
