Default Finding My Way In Madison

So, I've been swimming around a bit in Madison lately. Working on getting familiar with the system.

On today's dive, we were looking for the jump indicated by the BIG GREEN ARROW in the image above. I can verify that as of this morning that jump is definitely not marked. We were planning to swim up that passage from the mainline headed to the Century Tunnel Gap. Somehow, I managed to swim past the jump to that passage and we ended up at the jump to Martz. We decided to go ahead and swim up to Martz, which was actually really cool as I had not traveled up that passage before only down from Martz during training and at the time never really took in how fantastic the room at Martz looks! We returned by the same route and I definitely located the jump marked by the BIG GREEN ARROW above which is not marked on the MainLine. Looking upstream, the jump is tied in to the right wall and leads to a really obvious silt stake that I managed to miss on the way in. So, here's my question, Has this jump ever been marked on the MainLine? I can verify that as of this morning there are only two marked jumps from the MainLine between Martz and the Stop sign.

    Thanks

That tunnel hasn't been marked in the past. There are quite a few passages in Madison that aren't marked that will get small and silty very quickly. The Century tunnel has had a history of being unstable.

You can get to the Century tunnel from the Banana Room. It requires 2 jumps. It also gets low and silty.

About four weeks ago, I went back to what used to be the Century Tunnel. My route in was thru the Godzilla Jump and then down and left in the Monkey Room. On the way out, I used the passage you are referring to. Not difficult at all but very silty, especially at the end/start of the line next to the gold line. You probably noticed while looking into the "window" just off the gold line, that the silt mound comes up very close to the top of the window. NO dorf on the gold that I can remember. If you decide to swim into this line, then I would suggest you exit via the Banana room due to the lack of visibility and trust me, There will be a loss of vis! Now having said all this, an exit via the Banana Room will require TWO gaps. Keep that in mind. I have two former students going to Madison TODAY so they are going to verify the dorf on the Gold line.

Went in there a few years ago and turned it around because it was going to be an obviously crappy exit. As Brent said the silt mound comes up pretty high. I personally don't like low and silty. While the challenge can be fun the butt puckering saps most of the fun away.

I feel the same way. There's less butt puckering on CCR at least.

Due to the lack of a significant time limit? That's the biggest thing I'm looking forward to in our upcoming progression is getting all the time I need to allow for a return to sphincter normalcy.

There are two maps, with the CDS having revised their inventory with a newer map- you may want to check their store. There is an active resurvey of the place being done, but don't think the project has completed, or even if they have a plan to release it for sale.

That is the old Madison map, just has some passages colored. It is on Cave Atlas as well.
