Cow Turd Sink

Woke up this morning to the news that two teens are missing in another one of our caves, Snail Shell Cave, which is a sump that Marbry's been surveying.
He invited me to come along on their next adventure & I know the preparation he goes through to go in, these kids evidently did not have a clue of what they were doing.
I hope all ends well.

"You lead, and I'll follow." I said to Marbry. "I'll be surface support." Mike volunteered. And with that we geared up and entered the water. Ole Bessie wandered down to see what was up and walked right into the water, drank and sh^t. She then wandered over to the trucks and started rummaging in our gear! Mike ran over and threw rocks at her and yelled. He chased her off, but she made a big circle and came round again. I guess she'd never seen dive gear before.

So....if I understand this correctly....you threw rocks at a defenseless cow, AND you throw like an 8 year old girl?

Man, you guys are ruthless.
And I don't throw like an 8 year old girl, more like an 11 or 12 year old girl, I almost hit her.

On another note from an earlier post, they did find the two teens in Snail Shell Cave safe & sound but a little cold, they went in with swim trunks & a single light, they were in there for 20 hours.

That was an interesting day yesterday, we ended up searching pretty much the entire cave (just over 9 miles long) before we found them. They traversed at least a mile and a half of pretty wet cave, including a couple of swims. They were asleep when found, and didn't know how much time had passed.

They were perfectly fine and didn't even complain of being cold.

They didn't think anything was wrong and were surprised to find people looking for them.

We have plenty of caves as well as cave diving in TN, you just have to be accepting of the conditions. And fight off the mad killer cows. Throngs of curious bathers is not usually a problem since water in the low 50's doesn't tend to attract big crowds, at least not for more than a few minutes at a time.

Cow Crap has some excellent potential, of course we have numerous other caves with excellent potential that are showing no sign of stopping. One thing I can say for that particular cave is that it may have the largest crayfish and sculpin I think I've ever seen. I don't recall seeing any cave adapted species, but that doesn't mean they're not there.

I may try to shoot some video this Sunday and see if I get anything worthwhile. Hopefully the vis will continue to improve a bit.
