In 2003 it was 12,314 (highest) and in 2004 it was 12,263. The steady decline started in 2005 and membership numbers have never gone back up.

As an aside, isn't nice to belong to an organization that doesn't hide numbers?

I will be renewing my NSS membership and not the CDS. I still like to cave dive but I feel I can do more in the NSS protecting bats and preserving habitats.

IIRC it wasn't a steady decline.... It about halved when you got booted, halved again when they put Rob in as TD, then died died shortly thereafter....

Those are NSS numbers, not NACD But I do agree with you regarding the ouster of Bert Wilcher, Curt Bowen, myself, etc.

sorry, nvm. I do distinctly remember looking at the NACD membership figures and seeing a very curious correlation in BoD events and membership numbers. In the "real world" you analyze those, find the root cause, and fix the root cause. If you don't, you end up where the NACD is right now....

I think I read somewhere that the NACD is very much alive (and actively bankrupting one of their former volunteers).

In all fairness there should have been an option for still sifting through the BS, or basically undecided.

10 years is a LONG long time to be sifting. If you where sifting for gold and didnt find any for 10 years, you would had given up.

I think Rick has been actively mining through the pile of "$h!t" he's created over the last 10 years and refuses to accept defeat.
