I've always found it odd that people kind of ignore or gloss over that whole situation. I always kept my mouth shut cuz I didnt lnow every single detail, but it seems alot of people with alot more details liked to pretend that wasnt a thing.

    yes, but..
I would not mind the NACD getting a fresh start.. but it would have to be exactly that..
    A) full transparency on account status
    B) resignation of current leadership

What would having a normalized nacd really accomplish. Do we really need 2 nonprofit cave training agencies? What would the nacd being to the table that we need?

Absolutely nothing; melancholy and nostalgia don't provide anything.

Rick and his drones have successfully ran a viable organization which once had hundreds of outstanding active members into the grave. The NACD is dead and will remain dead probably long after Rick and his drones finally give up. (what ever decade that might be) The only question I have is how did the cave diving community allow a hostel takeover of what used to be an honest agency?

With the lawsuit the CDS came close to not existing. This would have left GUE, which has been a good organization, but I haven't seen them fulfill the general cave diving role. Some have said we don't need the nonprofit agencies, but the for profit agencies have shown no desire to step into the role of safety, conservation, landowner relations etc.

ideal solution will be to fold the NACD into the CDS, ironic given the history, but I feel like that's better than having it die completely and gives the funds for a new cave to an organization with the ability to actually get one

it is always good to have options. Also like Kelly pointed out a lawsuit can change things quickly and then all of the sudden when there are no alternatives there might be no nonprofit left..
also the NACD has long standing history and outside of FL still in some areas a good reputation (essentially to anyone who did not follow the "drama")
Also to some the CDS is not an option due to the dry caving angle and structure of the NSS..

So why not, but it would take a huge step aside from power grasping and ego for the current leadership.. It does not sound this is going to happen, so this discussion is likely moot..

Can someone explain their concern with the CDS being a sister org to the NSS? I don't fully understand the issue that cave divers have with it.
