    Bill,
Last time I was in Avalanche Alley, I couldn't join anything to anything, until I flipped over and dumped the 15 # rock off my tanks. Divers not prepared for such circumstances, should avoid the off the beaten path dives in J.B.
    Thanks,

So just how deep does it get in there?

Hey Kenny, how right you are, as far as i know there is not really a connection there at all (my post was sprt of tongue in cheek) and it is a nasty part of the cave (that's why it is called avalance alley). A lot of jb off the line is nasty back beyond the 4th tee where it changes to all silt. I certainly agree that one should not go poking around off the line much in those spots...on a dive with outlaw caver i had a large rock break free and create some low vis between the 1st and second tee, there's some fragile stuff in jb. There are passages within the first 1000' of cave that aren't on the map and can be quite challenging - you definitely need your "game face" on if you're going to get off the beaten path.....

About 98 FT., if my memory serves me! It's been a topic of debate, for as long as I can remember.
    Thanks,

    Bill,
I figured as much! Those wanting to see the most complete J.B. map might need to get Hunsucker to post a picture of his wall. I hear he has a more complete map painted there. It's a nice part of the cave for sure, just a dab unstable.
    Thanks and good diving,
    Kenny P.

    Karl,
How right you are. No need to do lots of penetration, to see spectacular, out of the way places in J.B. Just look left or right, soon after leaving the cavern zone.
    Thanks,
    Kenny P.

There are some pretty cool lines that are barely past the sign where the mainline starts.

Add unstable to that too. I've seen a side passage not far up the mainline have a geological event.

I'll second the thought on there being all kinds of neat stuff not far from the cavern. I think I hit up four or five different unmarked jumps that took us into all sorts of neat side passages. Definitely put my newfound sidemount skills to the test in some of them JB is an amazing cave...I look forward to coming back and exploring it some more.
