Been a long time; last time stayed at the HS country inn. Looking to dive Peacock, Madison, etc. Any recommendations on places to stay for relatively cheap?
thanks,

get ahold of Wayne at Amigos Dive Center... I hear there is a house down the street from him, owned by a cave diver and they rent rooms... super cheap.
Thanks!
Just know it's like a boarding house and not all your roommates are courteous. And you'll tell Wayne you're gonna stay a certain weekend and then when you show up he's got no clue you were supposed to be staying there. I like Wayne. His rentals can be frustrating and annoying but can sometimes be fine too. As long as you're aware and ok with it you'll be fine. Not my personal cup of tea.
I think Dive Outpost, by Peacock, has a small dive hostel with a couple of private cottages
Plus 1 for Wayne’s. I can certainly see him forgetting someone’s coming with all that he’s got going on though but I’ve never had the problem. I’ve stayed in the house across the street from his shop. It worked out very well!

Cathy, Wayne and CE all have places. The first two are mainly hostel type but do offer private lodging. CE has trailers for rent and if there are multiple people in your party they are in the same price range as the hostel type of housing. Lots of options and it depends on your definition of relatively cheap. In Orlando $100/night would probably get you shot in a drug deal but in Luraville / High Springs area you can get a descent place.
i would vote for a proper hotel in alachua or gainesville.
maybe i'm getting old and grumpy but those roadside motels that smell like curry and bunk houses aren't my speed anymore
Avoid the Red Roof Plus in Gainesville. The beds are like slabs of concrete.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
