Truth is most of the fossils and artifacts in this “museum” where collected without any official INAH permits. IMO that is the reason for the closure.

Possible. We went there after Diving one day. Really enjoyed the tour. Very informative. Just sad to see it closed.

The ironic thing is you reported this screen shot from your cell phone at 13:13

Very sad indeed. I was one of the sponsors of the 96 Dos Ojos Ejido Jacinto Pat expedition so it is disappointing at how much has changed down there. At 54k USD sounds like a partnership broke up or typical politics in the area. Hopefully this will weed itself out and it can be reopened but I suspect the INAH wants to develop their own museum under Sistema Sac Actun.

It's more like INAH are s sick and tired of fake archeologists taking artifacts out with zero permits and zero credentials whatsoever. Unfortunately this museum was all about collections of artifacts with no INAH permits and to make matters worse systematically accusing left and right members of the diving community of theft of archeological artifacts as a smoke screen to the fact that the museum had zero permits to collect anything in the first place.
IMO good riddance and hopefully it will all be done with the proper permits and the support of the dive community from now on.

Maybe we need blue drysuits and red drysuits to figure out who these people are...
