And that's just the cavern zone.
Can someone tell me the reason for the cavern being closed to swimmers/divers? Is it just to prevent accidents like this one, or is it so that the big school of striped bass that always hangs out in the cavern entrance isn't disturbed?

In this video, you will see a skin diver attempting to enter the 'Off Limits' vent, which is closed off for obvious reasons. I've two different verbal accounts of this site by experienced & permitted state geologists. I've seen their photos & film & the system is truly amazing & environmentally sensitive. The passage ways are tight & dangerous. Why would anyone outside of being a geologist for the state of Florida want to risk damaging the cave and or losing their lives ?

Well it seems they finally found him. I am sure the recovery was bad after 3 weeks. Definitely sad especially being that young.
