The past two years I've had the privilege of joining a group of explorers from around the world to work in the Huautla Resurgence Cave in Oaxaca Mexico. The Huautla Resurgence is the confirmed (by dye trace) resurgence of water from Systema Huautla, the deepest cave in the western hemisphere. We've had the opportunity to build on the previous work done by explorers from the USDCT and have had two successful expeditions with significant underwater and above water discoveries beyond the deep sump. I've attached a few videos from the expeditions below. The first two focus on the 2016 and 2017 expeditions, the third focuses more on the diving. The ultimate goal is to connect Sistema Huautla to the Huautla Resurgence.
In 2018 we'll be turning our focus to the Cueva de la Pe?a Colorada. Last visited in 1984, the Cueva de la Pe?a Colorada is a hypothesized paleo resurgence to Sistema Huautla situated between Sistema Huautla and the Huautla Resurgence. The team plans to push sump 7 upstream and downstream to close the gap between the two caves.

Mods: I considered posting this in the Sump Diver Forum but I thought it would be interesting to a wider audience. Please move if it's not in the right place.
