A standard uncorrected becomes a new standard set.

Saw an open water diver with one fin on down by the gold line in the eye 2 weeks ago on my way out, shined my light on him and pointed/escorted him out.

When that behavior comes from within a training agency, then you can only expect dives to take a "See nothing, hear nothing say nothing approach."

If I enjoy diving in a cave, and some bozo wants to kak himself and jeopardize my access, I am going to speak up. Don't have to be confrontational about it. Maybe ask to take their picture ... tell them it's so you can remember them when they were alive. I don't believe any transgressors end up in the cave by accident. They know they don't belong there and in most caves they are going to pass the grim reaper.

Early in my training, watching one of my instructors deliver an "instructional message" to some non-quals was a good example for me. Of course YMMV

The first part I was eluding to a scenario that a friend of mine was on the receiving end of from someone who represents one of the major agencies. Not my self. It also was about the act of the dive but rather content from that dive that was a issue. In a way my comment was more rhetorical I guess.

Like you I would say something and have in the past. But I have noticed that there is indeed a major hypocrisy from some agencies.

I remember when I was fifteen years old and crazy... probably still true. I would canoe down from rum island and take my single AL80 way inside devils ear and hide in the rocks in the ceiling of the cave and turn off my light. I could still see the light of the exit just barely. I would watch as the cave divers on scooters would cruise by... I was amazed and wanted to be a cave diver so bad. Over twenty years later I'm now certified with every possible certification. I still like to hide in the rocks in the dark and watch the cave divers go by. Remember I'm watching you.

You know how much it annoys me to agree with this?

    But it is 100% true.

I honestly haven't been cave diving long enough to develop an ego nor an opinion.. but I do see the issue quite a bit. Between OW divers at Ginnie going in the ear or eye, and yesterday at Orange Grove... this stage of my journey I just cringe .. but I can see how doing nothing does nothing to fix the issue
