    Default NSSCDS membership

hey everyone. i'm new to the cave diving world, just Intro certified beginning of march and have 12 or so dives under my belt in FL and Mexico. i'm heading back to FL in 2 weeks and was really hoping to have my NSSCDS card before then. i sent application in almost immediately after i returned from Intro training (maybe second week of March) and havent heard a word. anyone else experience such delays in getting responses from NSSCDS? my buddy and i would really like to dive Cow again! just wondering if processing memberships normally takes over a month.

    Jeff,

They are inherently slow, and have been for years. The primary reason that I have not renewed. Last year during elections I did not get a ballot at voting time but I did get a note wondering why I had not renewed and sent my money in. If they can not send me a voting ballot, well you get the picture...

Hey Capt Tom, Where have you been, we missed you! Don't feel bad about the ballot, there wasn't one this year! No one ran against anyone that was up for election. Same thing in the NACD. Maybe next year will be more fun. Frankly for the amount of work all those people do for no pay I think it's pretty amazing anyone runs. I couldn't do it. Of course if your brother were single and would keep me in the manor I would like to be kept I could see my way to be the only women on the BOD. Unfortunately I have a full time job, the museum and the team to keep me busy and my bed cold! God do I nee....never mind...Cindy

    jeffb78:

Go to the NSSCDS site at http://nsscds.org/ and send an E-mail to Sandra Fehring. I had a problem last month getting my renewal after mailing in the 2006 dues 2 months earlier. She took care of it and got my renewal to me within a week.

Since you're a new member, you should get a plastic card. Previous members with a renewal are now getting a little round "07" sticker(which don't stick and has to be taped on)

To my knowledge, diving upstream Cow Spring requires Full Cave certification, Abe Davis award, and NSSCDS membership. It's NOT a dive for newly-certified Intro Cave divers.

I guess I missed the part about him going upstream? I think he's OK to go downstream. I keep hoping that's where the instructors I see taking classes there are going. Cindy
