Default Servicing Apeks XTX 50 2nd Stage (Modification)

Does anyone here remove the tiny white plastic part from the casing of the XTX 50 2nd stage? The part that I'm referring to is just under the Venturi Ring and is the part that allows the Venturi lever body to click when making adjustments.

The plan is to only remove the one on my primary as it makes making adjustments so much smoother.

Removed it on all of mine, it's annoying and useless to me.

I don't have my manufacturer's materials in front of me at the moment, but I believe that ratchet part was discontinued and there was a directive from Aqualung/Apeks to permanently remove them from Apeks regulators.

Sorry it's been a while on this, but yes, that part was discontinued and omitted from current models and to be removed from older models per Service Update no. 26, April 15th, 2009.

Picture please? I've got Apeks regs and want to make sure they have the proper configuration. Thx in advance.

    Default Venturi ratchet adjustment

Disclaimer; I am not a certified reg tech and only work on my own gear. If you have any concerns about your ability to successfully make adjustments on life support gear, please take it to a dive shop.

The ratchet stop may cause difficulty in moving the venturi adjustment, if not, no need to fix what isn't broken.

I have a set of XTX-200's and only one of the two second stages had the ratchet blocks installed. It was a serious PITA to adjust even when lubricated, so it had to go. The entire removal/reassembly process with a bit of cleaning took about 10 minutes while sitting on the couch watching TV.

If you're comfortable removing the diaphragm and valve assembly, you will see two small white ratchet blocks sitting in the spaces above the left and right labels. I used a bell knife to apply gentle pressure and they popped out with little effort. Now it is possible to freely adjust the venturi. Cheers,

    Michael
