    Default Thermacell

Hunters recommend something called a Termacell which will create a 15x15 ft field of mosquito repellent. Knowing that after all flooding events that the mosquitos are unrelentless,I used one at Peacock Saturday. It worked perfectly, and it is now a permenant item with my dive gear. Look at Walmart in the sporting goods area, well worth the money.

Is it electronic or chemical? Instant barrier, or does it take a while?

You place a repellant wafer in the device that is powered by a butane cartridge. You get 12 hours of time from one refill.

Thanks for the pointer Kelly 8) I will have to get some before my next trip to mosquito country (North Florida).

I've heard of those, they're reported to be fantastic 8) Also heard of someone being told by a ranger that they were considered illegal to use inside a state park, believe it or not you cannot kill mosiqutos until they attack you, or so it was reported If you get a chance ask one of the rangers at Peacok about this as I question the integrety of my source on this and thus have been very curious about it since hearing it 8)

According to the website I saw, the Thermacell doesn't have enough poison to kill the mosquitoes, but enough that they are irritated and leave the area.

The way it was put to me, and mind you what I said about the credibility of the one telling this to me, was that it was considered harassing the wildlife Nothing to do with chemicals but apparently mosquitos deserve the same respect as the other denizens of the forest or so I was told Really would be interested in hearing an official take on that as I found it somewhat comical but highly plausible given this PC oriented world that we live in 8)
