Arizona Underground Rivers

Actually, I was near the S.R. Blue Hole late last year (oct/nov) and there IS talk of opening the grate to a local caver project, though I have no details nor contacts. There are also a number of other similar features in the area- all on either park or private property. Needless to say I was not in the area long enough to cultivate any connections, but you would need to be local to be involved, I am sure.

And there is a reason that there are "no caves to speak of" in AZ- fantastic stuff...or so I'm told. There is a hilarious patch that used to go around the western grottos that said something to that effect. Haven't seen one in a while.

As for underwater stuff in AZ- that is news to me- though it would not surprise me, considering the type of caves found in mexico to the south east under the sonoran desert.

I know of a few in AZ. In fact, one sump is only about 900' from the entrance. I'm still planning on exploring that one some day soon...

To Expat Caver:

Are you caving in Switzerland? I have heard that there is a very active caving community there, and there was even hint of some cave diving when I asked over there last year.

Hi Jason,
The caving in Switzerland is great. The cave diving community is not as large as the US but it is big. The diving here is on the extreme side, side mount, deepwater caves. The water is cold 8c all year around. The Swiss and French take there caving to a whole new level. The caves are different then say most Florida caves. I would invite anyone that wants to dive Swiss and French caves to do so as it is a great experience. I have been diving around the world and I would have to say that the cave diving here is some of the best. But do not expect to drive up to the site and have picnic tables and hot showers or a nice set of stairs leading you to the water. The cave diving here is a REAL adventure. So those who want to try it, be warned spend a couple months at the gym before you come.I will answer any ??? you might have just PM me please.
