Is the basin still dark?
It was very tannic when we were there a few days ago. Covered in duckweed, too. I went to rack up some open water hours on my unit, and couldn't tell if I was in the cavern or open water because it was like swimming in tea. I thumbed the dive after about two minutes.

Second hand information, but I was told this morning that conditions in OG have improved dramatically in the past few days. Still a bit of tannic water and algae, but my informant's exact words were: As soon as you get under the duckweed you can see all the way to the bottom." He has dived there several times in the past week and said that a week ago he couldn't see the cave entrance until he was almost in it.
That's how it was when I was there last on September 25th. The basin was so tannic I couldn't see the steps while I was doing my safety stop at 13 feet, we had to run the reel from the stairs down to the cave, and you couldn't see it until you were almost at the mouth of it.
Glad to know it's started clearing up, that'll make a dive in there a little more enjoyable.
Did a dive to Lower Orange Grove today, and the basin was quite nice. A little brown just under the everpresent duckweed, but plenty clear enough to see all around the basin.
