Martz Steps Construction Starts October 15

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Martz Sink steps project at Madison Blues Springs State Park. The generosity has been great and we met our fundraising goal in record time.

We will begin work on Saturday, October 15 and it will probably take 3 to 5 weekends to complete the work. The first weekend will involve demolition of the existing structure. We will need approximately 10 volunteers on Saturday (10/15) and Sunday (10/16) in addition to the construction crew. The first weekend will mostly entail hauling out the debris and toting in the new materials. Volunteers should bring work gloves, safety glasses, water and bug spray.

We will be providing lunch each day and we have permission for volunteers to camp on site during. The entire construction project will take 3 to 5 weekends and we have the greatest need for volunteers the first weekend (10/15-16).

It is taking longer to get everything organized than we anticipated; we need to push the start date back one week and will begin working on October 22. Our plans are to complete the demolition, remove all debris, and haul in all of the new lumber the first weekend. We have a need for more volunteers, and if you can help out, let us know. Thanks.
