You mean RGBM is proprietary? I remember looking at the source code for VPM.

It's a fiddly process, but once done, you can really check/see if the dive computer is putting out the GF numbers it claims it does. And it gives some insight to the consistency of the model implementation in the dive computer, particularly when most dive records are anything but straight lines.

I never noticed that feature before. I wonder if you could write it instead of using arrows to resize that you could have calibration touch points where you say this spot represents 0', this spot represents 100' and it automatically scales the image to sync up to the plotted plan?

No, I was thinking VPM. It wouldn't be the first time I made such a mistake. Are either VPM/B or VPM/E still proprietary?

Hi Yes, can do that. It has a short cut for the arrows too. Put the mouse near the frame edge / border you want to move, and scroll the wheel - quicker than the arrows.

    Default Deco issues

the one thing i find very interesting about all this is......we (deep, wreck, cave, mix gas) divers do alot of diving every year as a whole.....thousands of reported dives....(DAN surveys and such)and many thousands that are not reported... and there is a very small percentage of DCI incidents reported by DAN. i dont have the numbers in front of me right now, but overall, no matter what program you use, they all seem to have a relatively safe overall rate of safe deco programs. With all the infinite amount of variables per each individual diver, and all the infinite variables of diving conditions, the safety rate of all these deco computers is amazing.

VPM and VPM-B are not proprietary as the source code is freeware and always has been. The implementation of either can be considered proprietary by the person(s) responsible for offering a user interface such as table generators and or dive computers. Those guys got the source code from the source. RGBM , however is well protected by its creator as it is or was a source of income for that individual.

    Thank you for the clarification.
