There is always something to dive. Some get worse some get better.
Short term, the rivers may flood and back flow them full of tannin stained water.
Long term, more surface water means more hrydostatic pressure, which translates to higher flow through the systems.
Hurricanes are part of the ecosystem here, just like alligators, cottonmouths and other works of god we try to avoid.
Tallahassee stuff is boned.
Ginnie was closed today. As was Madison. Peacock/Orange Grove was still open.
when it poured for days last month or so, the gauges on all the rivers didnt blink. This is a storm that will pass by quick, but will dump lots....still think no impact to the caves. Maybe clean more goop from peacock surface.
I think it had more to do with the winds than the water. Ginnie is probably worried more about falling trees (given past incidences) than anything else. We resorted to Peacock, and the ranger met us saying that the park was going to stay open, but advised us about falling trees and branches if the winds picked up. They made the back exit available to us if the regular entrance got blocked.
How was the weather, as bad as the stuff on the coast or more docile? I honestly wanted to go to Ginnie today until this storm ruined those plans...
Always something to dive? Great to hear as I am preparing my first trip to cave county too and hope to dive there soon too.
