FWIW, Ron Contrera (Compressor Stuff) is selling a couple on eBay for $399 + $36.50. I paid that much for a used 16" (10") Mako and got a barely used filter from a friend. There may be better deals out there... depends how long you are willing to hunt for it I guess. I wanted my second filter in a hurry so that's what I did.

The more I think about it, the more I wish I had bought this one LOL. It's new and has a purge at the bottom mine doesn't have. Oh well, I wouldn't have been pumping gas for the past 4 months if I had waited. I suppose if your looking for a really good deal I could sell you mine and upgrade to one of these. I have to be honest though, I accidentally fouled one of the two mounting holes at the base. One bolt threads and tightens and the other only goes in part way before stopping. Doesn't affect the filter itself though.

I have an MCH16. I had (4) 30" aluminum towers on it and went to (2). I sold 2 of them on here a while back for $300 each I think which was probably too cheap but I bought 7 towers at once so didn't have much in them. There can be deals out there at times. Call Ed Paradiso at EP compressors and he may have some for a good price.

Jim Sheldon http://www.sheldensportinggoods.com/ has a repackable filter on his page for $515. It's a PC-1801 style which is the same 16"/10" Mako style that CompressorStuff is saying is rated for 6cfm. 6 or 10? I don't know. Maybe ask both why they think that. I'm not a scuba engineer expert but my thoughts might be that if your first filter is doing most of the work that it might be enough dwell time on your second filter.

"This is a repackable filter cartridge to
replace the PC-1801 filter. This will
allow user repacking of cartridge to
    reduce filter replacement costs.
Price is $49 plus shipping. The price for
a new filter chamber and repackable
    filter cartridge $515.00 plus shipping.
This is a 16 inch tower that will provide
grade E air for a compressor delivering
up to 10 CFM and pressure to 6000PSI."
