Royal is like some other caves that come to mind. Basically, there's really no reason to go in there yet some people, (myself included) feel or felt at some point the need to "check it out." In reality though, a cave dive there, in my opinion, does not warrant the potential danger that is very present. So why do it beyond just checking it out from the entrance...?
PS The most I've been in there was around the bend to the left after going left on the main line and conditions were bad enough just swimming in that I didn't even realize my buddy had turned to head out. Then when I turned, it created a silt out that I had to slowly swim out of (on the line) to exit. After that, I said I wouldn't go back in there.
Suicide isn't the answer, don't jump and don't dive Royal, there are options.
The silt is the second issue at Royal. The real issue is the layout of the cave makes it all too easy to line trap yourself coming out. A simple in & out from the cavern or even the first bit of the cave can seem easy. Once in deeper getting back out can be a real #####, then the viz drops & it turns into full blown FUBAR.
