They do not necessarily cater to divers but are (coincidentally) members of the diving community.
We rent out to only cave divers.

You can look under Resources then Lodging for Live Oak

I've heard that is a great place to stay.
It is a great place to stay. Too bad the Brown Lantern isn't open on Saturday

I concur with John. Great people to hang out with and an occassional dive... Good to see both of you again. 8)

I just left the Penney cottage this morning at 7am. Had a great week and a very comfy bed. Lots of great diving too, btw.

    Highly recommend it.

Old? I didn't think they were old. Heck they don't look older than me, and I'm not old.........

I know where all the N FL places are that cater to divers. I just need opinions of the Motels in the Live Oak area .... for a convention ... sorta ...

Motels in Live Oak where I have firsthand experience (and I have laid my head down many a night there over the years - starting with Cave Class):

They are all about the same IMO - typical roadside, no-frills motels - the Best Western Suwanee Valley Inn, the Econolodge and a Holiday Inn Express are about the only ones I have stayed in that town - there used to be PArkers Motel (where there was a Chinese Restaurant) that is now open again and called something else (a little closer to town down 129 from I-10). For a "sorta convention" Holiday Inn Express might be best choice - newest and has more indoor space for meeting. None of them really have any indoor space of any consequence, but I suspect the Holiday Inn Express could produce a small meeting room on inquiry. The others are all 1970s vintage motel style with exterior corridors- the HI Express has interior corridors.

Seems Lake City might be a better choice for any get together- the new Holiday Inn (new meaning within the past 3 yrs. or so) actually has a small atrium inside, with a small bar and plenty of seating, along with meeting rooms, and a small restaurant. Should easily be able to handle a small get together- although there'd be a 20 mile drive or so to Live Oak. Plus, as we all know, Lake City has many more dining options than Live Oak - and there's no Texas Roadhouse in Live Oak!

Okay, you said "sorta" so I guess I'm going to chime in with the cheapest accomodations I can think of.

$10/nite per site where you are allowed 2 tents up to eight people...LESS than $1.50 per person/nite. We have electrical outlets for fans or heaters.
Camping is tent ONLY and you have to walk your stuff around the gate but the farthest site is only about 100 yards away and we have a wheelbarrel to assist.

2 pavillions for your errrrr "convention" which are FREE!!! unless you want to reserve them and guarentee their avalability for your group. New grills & picnic tables and a spot for someone to put a tow behind smoker.

    And we have a cave!!!!!!

Since motels are not cave diving related, it isn't against Rule #6

However, don't even mention anyplace that caters to cave divers, that would be against rule #6.

    Forrest,
Econolodge was a good stay for me several years back. It is just off the Interstate and has plenty of eateries and fuel nearby.
    Good Luck,

    Default cindy's

You might try staying at Cindy's Motel in Mayo.... nice little place, $40/night and clean. Nothing fancy, but pretty centrally located. she is pretty anal about wet things in the rooms, but she has drying racks out back. Just another option.
