    Default doctor referral for evaluation

Due to a recent small stroke, I have been told to wait a couple of months by two doctors in the hospital and 2 months to two years by DAN.

I have the names of four MD's that DAN said might know more about evaluating my situation.
If any of you recognize them please PM me your thoughts, or if you know a doctor in north Fl / south Ga that might be good for such.

    Thanks

    Richard

Wishing you a speedy return to the water. Not sure if they still are on the forum or their forum names but maybe Doug Ebersole or Mark Gay could help you or give you some off-line feedback.

    Safe diving,

I have met Dr Kepper from someone I know who got bent, and actually was present during the recompression. He was very knowledgeable, and delivered very good treatment. I met Dr Buzzuto when I had a DCS incidence and was sent to him due to proximity. His main practice is wound care currently, so he was very excited to get a DCS case. He has excellent credentials, with his last chamber site was in Jacksonville, and spent a lot of time with divers. He assessed my problem quickly, and provided prudent advice. Good luck and hope the best for you.

Dr. Bozzuto's name appears twice. Did you leave one name out or there's only these 3 docs (you mentioned 4)?

I had a problem 2 years ago and DAN told me that it would probably be 2 years before being able to dive again. 3 months later I was cleared to dive and have had no problems since. Not saying DAN is wrong but they are not present to determine your situation. I wish you a safe and clear recovery.

Dr. Kepper took good care of me when I spent a night in the chamber back in '97. I'm sort of surprised he's still practicing, but he might be worth seeing.

    Second recommendation for Dr Bozzuto.

I also would recommend Tom Bozzuto, a personal friend and a renowned hyperbaric/dive medicine physician.

Just a note to thank all of you who posted and mailed me personally. I ultimately chose Dr Bozzuto in Albany at the Phoebe Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center. They are one of the closest chambers to Tallahassee also available for diver deco issues. Dr Bozzuto is a diver himself and was very familiar with diver problems. If any of you have such issues I do recommend him. And lest I forget; after he gave me a dive physical, he also gave me a personal tour of the chamber and introduced me to the staff.

Oh yeah: I was cleared to dive again.

Thanks for the follow up and good news. Florida has chamber issues and divers aren't guaranteed to get treated, just remember south GA doesn't seem to have the issue.
