    Default Crystals inside Devils System?

I noticed some little crystals in some sediment at Ginnie last week, and took another look at them yesterday.

I'm wondering how they formed and don't know who to talk to about it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a science-y person who'd be willing to talk?

Jerry at Cave Country Dive Shop teaches geology at SFCC, he might be able to either answer your questions or point you in the right direction.

Did you get a photo? Did they look clear like quartz? or some other color?

My guess is that you are looking at mica.

It's hard to say what it is without at least seeing it.

More than likely it's some form of calcite though.

Would need to see an image or get a good description. Where did you see the crystals?

I can say it is NOT mica.

Could it be a secret entrance to DeBeers diamond mine?

To clarify, mica is generally a product of igneous(from a molten state) of metamorphic (change by high temp/press) processes. Mica is found in sediments but they must originate from an igneous or sedimentary source rock. The closest rocks of that nature I know of are around Columbus, Georgia.

Since you need molten rock or high temp., does that mean that Columbus is closer to Hell than North Florida is?
