    Default Eagle's Nest 6.18.2026

We dove the Nest this AM. The basin has maybe 5 feet of visibility and is quite warm. Once we dropped through the hole to the cold layer, the visibility cleared very nicely, albeit with a bit of a greenish tinge to it. We mostly stayed in the ballroom, and it was quite nice. If you go, don't let the conditions in the pond turn you off, it gets better. We even saw a couple of deer and placed a gopher tortoise out of the road and onto the shoulder. Great day, and almost no deco!

An update on the nest from 7-22-16. The Basin has gotten worse, 5-10 ft tanic vis all the way down into the top of the ballroom. At 80ft, it clears up wonderfully to 100+ft and blue. Went upstream to the end of the gold line and it is spectacular vis and blue all the way up. With good video lights you can see wall to wall in the super room and dome room. The ballroom was clear and blue as well and it looked the same downstream. It is probably a great time to do photos in the upstream and ballroom. It's not the normal brown and cloudy that it has been for a while. The cave is 73 degrees and the basin is 75 up to 15 ft where it warms up to 77 above. Other than the vis, deco is very comfortable with the warm water. The bugs were not too bad and the roads are in great condition.

Not a great photo, but shows the dome room and the blue water.

That was a really nice day! I was there as well on the 22nd for my 1st Eagle's Nest experience. Glad I got to see it when the conditions are nice like this - and really looking forward to heading back. Any chance you caught any pics of me floundering around on my rebreather while James was showing me around?
