2016 NSS-CDS Midwest Workshop

Hi all, I thought I would go ahead and inform all that Bjorn Loftis and myself have agreed to do a Chair/Co-chair approach to this years Midwest workshop. We both really want to ensure this thing happens this year so we decided to do so by chairing the event.
This is something very alien for both of us so any and all input on how to ensure a good quality workshop is greatly appreciated. We're actively thinking about a theme and speakers/lectures to have. If anyone has any suggestions for speakers/lecturers feel free to let us know! We hope to have a good attendance at this workshop. The diving is very unique in the area so if you're looking to do something different try and come out! A date will be posted soon so people will have ample time to get off work and plan accordingly. Roubidoux Cave

You must sign in and show Certification at the Waynesville 911 station on route 66 E to dive Roubidoux.

A Super 8 hotel in St. Robert's is very close to this cave in case you plan to arrive Thursday night. Address is: 107 McKinnon St, St Robert, MO 65584

Cannonball Cave
Poplar Bluff is the nearest town about 20 miles south of Cannonball (Blue Davidson Spring is official name) in Lake Wapapello State Park. GPS coordinates can be given on request.

Mine La Motte
This is an option for some, however I believe access is limited. Here's a thread concerning the Mine.

Folks usually stay Friday night in a motel local to the venue, attend the workshop, then dive Cannonball or Mine LaMotte on Sunday.

Cannonball- Suggest using Y-kiki divers Friday before the social working out a time with Bjorn to get them filled before Sunday.

TRIMIX and Oxygen
Bjorn Loftis works at Y-kiki divers and will be doing O2 and Trimix fills for those that want them. Please make sure all tanks are up to date on hydro and VIP.

I dove Mine La Motte before the NSS Convention last year. One of my favorite dives. The site is a privately owned local swimming hole/party spot. I think admission was around $20. Call to make sure nothing has changed. I got the impression they don't get a lot divers there.

Remember it is a mine, not a cave. There are 60+ year old wooden columns supporting the ceiling. I didn't see any signs of recent collapse but that could change.
