Forrest, this from what I understand this statement is not as true as it once was thought. Research is showing that dehydration doesn't play as much of a role as once thought. That being said I still hydrate well.

I seem to remember a talk at the 2014 CDS seminar by a diving doc who said the issues with DCS and dehydration are confounded, as DCS causes dehydration.

Glad your fine. I took a small hit in ginnie that I foolishly missed for two days.
I think that in this case pre-existing dehydration may be a factor obviously, but diabetics also have small vessel vascular issues and really wonder how much that is a factor.

I missed that talk, I guess I am out of date, but so is Tammy's doctor

I've also read that dehydration is not causative for dcs....however I don't see any downside of continuing to hydrate as if it did.
Imo until decompression science is well known it's best to be really conservative, and listen to your body if it's getting overly tired after diving...and crank up the conservation accordingly.

I was at a recent presentation by Neal Pollock, and it seemed that he too deemphasized the role of dehydration as a contributing factor of DCS. I may be misinterpreting what he said so take it with a grain of salt.

Forrest, does this mean that all those aspirin we took and quarts of Gatoraid we were told to drink was wrong? I never did like Gatoraid.
