Here is a strange concept, how about the CDS Board chairing their event?

    Why can't this happen?

Volunteers are the backbone of the organization. The bod cant do everything. Like everyone else they are volunteers with jobs, businesses, family, lives and diving to do. They are already heavily involved in their individual duties and other projects that make this organization run. They do so all year round. With out the membership stepping up to help with events and projects they cannot all happen. It is all of our organization and we all need to help it thrive. With over 1000 members, 7 people just cant do everything for everyone.

I am hoping we have a member who can chair this event. The bod would be truly dissappointed to see this event not happen. We need more of these, not less.

It can happen, and has happened in the not so distant past. But like Cheryl said, the BoD can't do everything.

Between developing software, teaching scuba, and keeping up with a 10 month old - I'm pretty time constrained this year...

But I really like the conference and will help out as I am able. Preferably as a volunteer.

Could there be a team "chair"
In other words 5 or more people who could volunteer some time to make this happen?

Ideally that is how it is supposed to work. There are people who will tackle the whole workshop, but it has been very successful with having a workshop chair, and delegating different activities to different people. Ultimately you have a bigger pool of help to call upon for planning, and function. Workshop chair was never intended to be a solo effort, but an administrative role.
