Don't worry - we're all nice in person. We're only mean when we're on the internet!

Welcome to the family. Don't be bashful to ask any questions you may have. We are all still learning. Good luck to you, and be safe.

I'm sorry, but I can't look at your screen name without picturing Dan Aykroyd on that old SNL skit saying, "Mangled baby ducks!"

Default This is a helpful group

I've been involved with this group for a few months and have found that there are lots of people both at your experience level and much more experienced levels that will be happy to dive with you, answer questions etc.. Winess the fact that last week I posted looking for buddies to do Intro. level dives and got 6 or more responses right away and I have 3 dive outings scheduled with these folks over the next couple of weeks. So if you want to do some Intro. level dives just post on the "Buddy" forum. In fact, I'll likely respond myself.

Congrats on your acheivement and welcome to the family BabyDuck. The real fun is just beginning for you as you continue to learn and make many new friends along the way. You've got me curious about the slap strap, does it reference something or does just wearing one make one a Self-Thinking Responsible Open-minded Karst Explorer?

    Hey Babyduck,

Good to see you post on the forum, it was great meeting you at Cathy's (I had "cave hair" but not as bad as that other fellow...). Hope to see you again in cave country.

Congrats on your cert, now come down and use it!

    Dive safe,

That's Right Baby Duck!!! Be Afraid.............Very, Very, Afraid!!!! MuHaHaHaHaHaMuHaHaHaHa.
Unfortunately for everyone on this Forum including yourself I'm such a nice laid back/low key guy in my every day life that the only place I have to lash out and vent is on this Forum. It's never personal at least not on my part.
Case in point. If I ever met you in real life I wouldn't dream of doing this... but since it's the Forum and it is impossible for you to Slap, Kick, Spit, Mace, Taser, Bludgeon, Shoot or set me on fire then I feel as though I can get away with this sort of behavior. Had this been an actual mooning I would have had the common courtesy to use a "Stunt Butt".
Welcome aboard and congrats on your Intro Cert.

the str*ke thing is because of my first post-ow cert dives. i was at ginnie with friends. one was in a new plate but didn't have a necklace, so i lent her an octo retainer 'cause i had 2. of course, the one i kept made the thing freeflow the whole time, so i borrowed a necklace from another friend. we just knew we looked so stupid, & started using that as a term of endearment. on the ncdivers.com site, we have a whole forum with that as the title because of it, and it's under my screenname there.

    so it's just a thing.

    thanks for the nice welcome!

    proud cave tourist!
