Hi all, my original post was in conservation forum but it was suggested I may get more traffic in this forum.
We are still scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at Madison for our annual clean-up. Plan to get there around 8:30AM and work for half a day. We will provide lunch afterwards.
The park would like to remove the set of steps leading into the mud-pit on the west side of the spring run and turning it into an overlook so we will need a demo and hauling crew. They will have a dump trailer on-site for discarded material. For this project we will need gloves, crowbars, hammers, sawzall, etc.
The park would also like to install a crowd control / parking barrier system at the top of the entrance deck and parking lot. Basically, we would be installing 12/15 posts along the edge of the parking lot and drilling the posts for ¾” rope to pass thru (we have the rope). We would then layout a 36’ x 30’ area using posts and rope to create a spring entrance and to keep vehicles from parking in front of entrance deck. Gravel may be placed in front of the deck and ramped up, as well as under the dive benches (more of erosion control).
We also have vegetation management, basic clean-up of limbs, picnic table maintenance, etc.
Let me know if you can attend. Your help is most appreciated by park personnel.
