Default History of Twin Dees question

Was Twin Dees recently discovered, or was it known for awhile, but dismissed as not worth exploring?

Any other history about it would be nice too.

Jeff Peterson and Dave Miner found Middle Earth and the beginning of the Alph tunnel in the mid-90s. I have a video shot by Barry Miller of the system from back then.

They wrote up an article about it : http://www.mejeme.com/dive/articles/twinds.htm

I was there on that project when Dave Miner and Jeff found Middle Earth. I'm trying to remember what issue of Deeptech I put the editorial in???
