My arm could be twisted to buy one of these as well

Is it clear? No? Well....let's go anyways.

    Default vr3

    Jordan,

I wouldn't bother twisting too far....it's an essential piece of kit. Any diver going beyond rec limits needs a comp such as the vr3 or nitek he.

I used to have both but gave my nitek away to my brother. The vr3 is a wonderful dive comp and conservative, using deep stops on deco.

It can get pricey depending on what you want it for as you can buy PINs to open extra functions, such as closed circuit, trimix, O2 analyser and what have you.

I find it extremely easy to use. Initially I hated it because the manual is not so good and certain functions are not explained properly from start to finish in one go but rely on early comments made in the manual so you can get a bit confused.

Once you have managed all...which I haven't yet, it's superb. You can set up 10 gases and then you can set up, I think, 5 different gas groups. That is to say you can have, say A to E and each one of those groups is tailored to your dives so select group B because you have those gases set up for the type of dive you intend to do. I'm not explaining well.

If at any point you lose a gas or want to add a gas, say if you are breathing from a buddy's mix (rare but possible) you can switch on/off any gas you have in your comp. In fact, if you really need to you can create a new mix whilst on the dive and add it. So, for example, if you did not have NX 68 in your pc but found yourself needing to breathe from your buddy's nx 68, just do a quick set up, enable and you're away.

Anyway, if you come acroos a second hand one,....although I suppose that will only happen if someone retires from diving, let me know.

Bill at Cave Excursions has a used one kicking around - he might take some good cash for it. I've seen it around the shop and he told me he does not dive that much anymore. - It might be for rental use though...

See, Jordan ? Give it away, it doesn't have cool games like VR3.

    Default VR3

Well........it was his birthday and he was doing dives without a computer and he pleaded poverty so I preferred that he dived with a comp rather than not.....I think he played me on that one.

Oh well....he loves it but we both prefer my vr3 but it's very hard to follow the instruction manual on some of the more technical (not all) aspects of the comp and I have probelms downloading dives and the support from DeltaP rarely write back when I have a question.

Just a FYI. My friend just lost his on a 140' dive , slide right off his wrist, and he had it hooked up to CCR, - P connector also.

I would try to change that wrist band. I know i all most lost mine several times also.

I know a guy that lost a fin in the bahamas, a yellow jetfin, told all the uest every time we where at the site he would give them the world if someone found it, I always told him I wanted a night with his wife. 3 months later, on our last dive there for the season, I found it in 253ft of water. It was too bad his wife left him at this point for one of the guest, at least he had his fin back. So I am pretty good at finding things if you would care to pay my way I will find it for you.
