Default CDS desperate funds, willing to accept digial UWS over print form?

Chairman Citelli in this posting http://www.nsscds.org/node/425 dispelled rumors, but explained the CDS' need for money related legal battles that are ongoing. His comment reveals something that isn't new, and the membership as a whole doesn't know, that approx. 85% of the dues (after the NSS processing) goes to pay for UWS. Hence the CDS gets $2.25 per member. I am sure the CDS board will make changes as they see the need arise, so this is a hypothetical question. If the CDS board had to for funds reasons, would you be willing to give up the print form of UWS in favor of a digital edition to allow the CDS to have more membership funds?

I think a digital copy is a great idea. It saves money. It allows video/audio to be used to tell stories. Further, video stories from the digital UWS could be uploaded to Youtube, Facebook or similar and used for outreach/recruitment.

Have to admit since NSS News was given a digital option, I really like it.

what is stupid though is that they can't go after the NSS to help with the legal funds, if so much of the fees are going to them, why aren't they helping?

While I understand the idea and possibly future need to go digital with the UWS, it is not a replacement for a hard copy edition in my opinion.
The regular magazines are great pieces of PR for the CDS to give out to people and leave at places like libraries, etc.
I sometimes bring an extra copy or two to the film set I'm working on to show or give to producers, etc. There's no telling what that could lead to down the road. (And that happened just a few months ago with James Cameron visiting set.)

I have no problem with digital-only. I kinda like the print version, but I'm not going to say that I'm married to it. Heck, less paper equals less waste equals better conservation efforts even.

However, I'd also be perfectly happy ponying up a couple extra bucks in higher dues to either A) Maintain the print version OR B) scrap print over digital and increase CDS income. Hell, $20 for year? I'm not exactly Mr. Moneypockets, but I could comfortably cough up another $10 (the cost of a nice lunch) over the course of a year and will have increased the CDS' revenue from me by 50%

Understand. If the organization ceases to exist because they don't have the funds for their legal costs, then obviously there is no hard copy or digital copy of UWS to share. I am with you in that I like the hard copy, but the organization would see a 800 to 900% increase in revenue with a digital edition. That would go miles toward having a payment plan to repay legal fees.

How would you feel about a poll being emailed to CDS members to gauge their interest level in various plans of attack? This would give the BOD a cheap and easily deployable tool to gauge member support for different avenues to enhance revenue.

If they can decide to sell a property without the need of approval from the membership because they need the money why wouldn't they just decide to make UWS digital?
