Default First Day Hike, Peacock Springs, January 1st 9:30am

Please join park service specialist Alex Creager for the first annual First Day Hike at Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State park at 9:30am. This is an event that is being held in state parks throughout the nation. The walk will be the 1 mile interpretive trail in the park.

    Default New Year's Day

I would love to go on an interpretive hike with the ranger at Peacock, but Jan. 1 is the Cave Divers' Forum Social at Ginnie Springs. I think a better time could be found to offer an interpretive hike at Peacock.

We had a very nice hike with Alex this morning. About twenty people participated including a members of a local chapter of the Audubon society and some from the Sparkleberry Chapter of the Florida Native Plants Society. Considering the weather today, I would consider the day a smashing success.

Following the hike, Bonnie and I had a wonderful dive going up the peanut line and jumping to the waterhole tunnel. With the limited traffic in the cave today the visibility was great everywhere we went.

Look for announcements in the coming months for additional activities in the park.
