Default Diving into the Unknown Trailer

Diving into the unknown trailer is released. The movie will cover the body recovery of the two divers who died in Feb 2014. I think there is a thread about the incident on CDF, but i posted a link to a news article and the synopsis from a film website. If someone finds the original thread on the incident, definitely post it for everyone.

"Cave diving is a dangerous hobby. For a group of Finnish cave divers, their worst nightmare becomes real during an accident where two divers drown deep inside a cave in Norway. In this feature length documentary the viewers are taken into a secret operation where the surviving divers try to retrieve the bodies of their friends, after the official retrieval operation has been called off. Can they overcome the burden of their own fears during this life-threatening mission?

“Diving into the Unknown” is more than just a rare insight into a secret operation; It is also an in depth story of the groups’ unconditional friendship. This is a unique group of specialists who have to rely on each other every split second of the dive. They have been exploring caves, where no one else has entered ever before, for years but the biggest challenge is ahead of them. Each time the team members enter a cave system anywhere survival is the theme they face. However, the physical burden is nothing compared the psychological one; how would it feel to face your friends’ dead body while you are supposed to complete an extremely dangerous mission in an extremely hostile environment? The team has promised the victims families to bring their loved ones back home even if it means endangering the teams’ own lives.

With multiple cameras, both on the surface and under water, the film follows this breath-taking mission. It shows the twists and turns the team members experience, which all can jeopardize the whole operation at any time."...from

So they're friend died and they were so upset that they were determined to risk their lives to save them(obviously this wasnt a typical recovery) and they thought "hey lets film it and make a documentary"?

Any of the proceeds go to the family of the deceased?

It is a heck of a story. I heard a talk on it at Eurotek last fall. The government closed the cave after the accident, but they went anyway. There was a great deal of planning involved, so nobody else would get hurt. I may have to go see the movie.

This trailer was honestly the first i had heard of this tragic story. I have no clue about the proceeds, although morally I would want all of the proceeds to go to the family and towards dive education. It is a little unsettling to think they were trying to profit off of this tragedy, but I don't know enough background information to draw any conclusions.

    It's weird.

They only had two 80s each for bailout on the initial dive? What was their plan in case of a breather failure on the far side at 400' or even at 300'? I'd much rather see some accident analysis instead of a documentary that seems to be made for entertainmant purposes.

There is plenty info available on the incident and on the rescues (!) the unsuccessfull official one and the stealth mission..
How would you know about 2 80s for the bailout for the initial dive? Because this is what you see in a vid sequence?
AFAIK there was BO staged as well..

Strange though this documentary popping up now since I wasn't aware of any filiming team mentioned in the actual rescue..
might be some production company jumped on it after the fact when they learned about the story..

really hope the proceeds go to the families of the victims
