    Default Time to renw!

Got my email from NACD reminding me to renew my membership!

Funny thing, though... last year I had a little extra cash so I said to myself, "Why don't I renew for the next three years." So I'm paid up through 2018.

This email reminds me that I wish I'd just given the extra cash to the CDS legal defense fund instead of directly funding the instigation of a legal action.

Yes I got it as well and will renew my membership when the online renewal is working again. I will also renew my GUE membership and my NSS/CDS automatically renews each year. While the NACD has certainly hit some turbulence I am sure that it can recover and once again continue its support of caves and cave diving. There is still much to be done on many fronts. Bill Huth

    Dear NACD Member,
The NACD continues its growth thanks to membership funding and the volunteers at the many NACD functions held throughout the year. Your membership provides the NACD the opportunity to expand into new cave systems, maintain the current systems, and provides as a representative body, the leverage to impact a wider diving community.
The NACD activity and social calendar can be seen at www.nacdmembers.com. Use the website to stay current on cave diving social activates, plan to attend and link up with old friends or procure NACD merchandise. The renewal section of the site is currently down so please see the attached form for the application. These can be emailed back to [email protected] or mailed back in to the PO BOX for processing. Sorry for the inconvenience, the renewal site will be active very soon.
As a member, we will do our best to keep you informed of annual events and how the NACD is impacting the cave diving community through newsletters and of course the NACD Journal mailed to members every quarter.
In closing I ask that you consider your renewal to the NACD and allow us to better serve you the cave diver and NACD member. In fact, invite a friend to become a member or consider becoming a lifetime member. If you have already renewed we appreciate your continued support.
Thank You for your support of the NACD,

    Orie J. Braun
    Membership Committee Chair

After reading this form email they are sending out you would think they at least would tell the truth about where the dues are being spent. I have asked when was the last time the NACD got access opened up to a cave or supported any type of exploration / survey project. I don't even recall them replacing any stop signs or supplying line to reline a system. All I have seen them do is waste dues on frivolous court filings. Since the last round of mass resignations I don't think they have even produced a journal. It will be interesting to see how much money they receive this year. The last filings I read they were down from 40k to 7k. It is really sad.

Could some active member actually request the books, to find out where the dues do actually go? I'm genuinely asking... I don't know.

You don't need to be a member to request the IRS form 990 tax exempt return. It must be made available to the public. The last one that seems to have been filed is the 2013 return. They are also required to provide form 1023, which is the application for exempt status.

I could post the 990s here, but I'm not sure if that is allowed.

More like regurgitate than reiterate. Need to work on your onomatopoeias bat man. Badum tish. Having taken a look at the threads I don't think you speak for the majority...seems to me like a very vocal few have decided to form a lynch mob. I find crowd psychology interesting and I certainly prefer other forms of organizational change to the social media pillory cave mobbers seem to prefer.

Well to get involved with the NACD you must sign a non disclosure agreement that is so one sided anyone with half a brain would be crazy to sign. So after you sign this disclosure agreement and try to affect change from within they will throw you under the bus because you are getting into their pocketbook. They will then roast you on the public forums and if you dare respond they will sick the lawyer after you. Anyone is definitely entitled to waste their money and time however they see fit but I refuse to give them one cent till their is significant change and apologies are issued to many the NACD has done wrong over the years. In my opinion they need to start with Tom Mount and work up to the current day.
