Lay down and place an ear down to the soil (must do this outside unless your house has dirt floors). Now have someone beat a 50 lb sledge hammer into the ground. If you hear an echo, there is a cave below.

BTW, please upload video of your performing the "cave test" so we can offer any pointers in case you do it incorrectly.

Look at the NSS web site www.caves.org for a grotto near you (caving group) then contact the group in your area. Go to a meeting or two and the cavers should take you under their wings, bat wings of course! Cindy

I have had three people call my home and want to see an underground cave. Some newscaster must have come up with that phrase. Most likely the same guy that made me a Certified Cave Guide and a Cave Expert! Both of those had me rolling on the floor! I refered them to Florida Caverns State park or to the local grotto. Caves are definitely in this year. Cindy

It would help to know what area you live in. There are caves in most every state. Like Cindy said, a grotto is your best bet, since posting locations on the internet is considered "taboo".

If you post an area, someone can tell you if there are caves nearby. You would have to find a local person to show you exactly where.
