Default Cheap or free cavern dive sites?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of coming down to Florida from February 13th to February 18th. I'm cavern certified and I'd like to find some nice dive sites that are relatively cheap or free if possible. I know that Morrison is free and I've been told by a few that the cavern there is fantastic. Are there any other great cavern dives that don't have fees or that have minimal fees. I'll have a rental car so I can get around easily. Thanks for any info!!

Peacock Springs has a couple great cavern dives, with a minimal fee, definitely worth it. Do Peacock I and have a nice long cavern dive, then head over to Orange grove, you can dive the deeper cavern to around 90 ffw, then head into the upper caver at around 70 ffw. Just pray there aren't OW divers at Orange Grove. Last time I was diving the basin with my son, we were hanging around at the 70 foot entrance, and an avalanche of silt came down on us. A group of about 6-8 OW divers decended, and caused a total silt out. Be aware of that also when in the cavern.

Little River is free and a good cavern dive depending on conditions.

Both of these sites are near Branford/Luraville.

Peacock sounds great. Where do you pay? I remember reading on this forum that you need a state park pass or something like that.

    Default cheap or free...

Madison Blue is great for cavern dives. Try Telford and Cow too. (for Cow you must be a NSS-CDS member).

    Take care and safe diving.

Iron ranger. You just take an envelope out of the slot, put your money in, tear off the stub and hang it on your rearview mirror.

I would like you to get in touch with me before you come down. There are a few places I could meet you to dive.

PM me, maybe we can do some diving together. I'll be off for the latter part of that week, and I'm still building time on my rebreather, so I'm doing easy dives until I have some good time on it. That is, assuming, you are comfortable diving with somebody on a rebreather(with a stage bottle for bailout/gas donor situations).

Can we just build a page with the resouce to divers new or just visiting the area that will deal with this quesitons please? It seems to be a frequent one! I know there are books that tell you this tuff but we are such a web page world these days it seems it's time to put a link to local sites that can be dived by level of training. Thanks, Cindy Butler

    Kathleen worked on this page:

Disregard the few prices listed though.

    Default Jug Hole

Jug Hole would be a great cavern dive... excellent viz and a nice open cavern with forgiving conditions for beginners. State park daily adimission or annual pass accepted. Buy an annual pass, support the parks and four days of diving will have it paid for. It is closed at certain times of the year and it is a bit of a hike to the site, but well worth the walk.
