    Default Rock Bluff

I was down in the High Springs area this weekend with my girlfriend. I was able to squeeze in a couple of dives. I didn't bring a drysuit, scooter or stages as she doesn't like getting left on the boat for hours at a time. Anyway I went to Rock Bluff this morning and if you are thinking about trying it I don't know when it would be better. This was my second dive there so I don't have much experience with it. The flow is so minimal that I was freezing after 20 minutes. The entrance was a breeze. Just dump all your air out of your bc. I slid right trough with my 120's and I am 6'4" 245 lbs. If you are in the area it is a fun dive. A canoe or kayak is all you need to get there too.

Really ey? I only know the cave from the video Agnes posted a few years back and there the entrance looked way tight... what happend? Does the sand get flushed out?

It was smaller than when I was there last summer and the flow was ripping. The sand had slid down the hill and covered up most of those softball size rocks I remember. It isn't tight in sidemount. Just dump all your air and you can squeeze tight through. Remember Agnes and Wes were filming a video. I thinked they were hamming it up some. Now this past summer I had to roll over and go in upside down to get in but today it was easy and the viz was 40' or so. If you want to see it now is the time.

Been awhile about two years but last time I was there I had to push my tanks ahead of me due to a ripping flow. I get the feeling that getting in once doesn't mean you always can, that it's degree of difficulty ebbs and flows with the conditions.

Wow, typically that entrance is a full value, full contact love fest....will have to go check it out...that flow kept the huge sand hill back, hmmm

Here is a little video of the entrance. I edited out my initial try where I didn't dump the air out of my BC. It is about as easy as it is ever going to get in my opinion and still have good viz.

I was there last Sunday and I moved a lot of crap, including broken glass, out of the entrance. Flow as ripping so I couldn't get in with a giant strobe in one hand and reel in the right. So I let Chris run the line in, then I came in with one hand free (to pull).

Dove Rick Bluff yesterday. Conditions are still nice, flow is down, viz about 30-40'. There is ALOT more sand at the entrance than when we tried to get in February and it was really pumping. No problem getting in, coming out I got a bit of a sand slide and it did a good job of jamming up my inflator and a couple of my bolt snaps. We noticed that the main line is loose in one section and getting pretty worn on some of the sharper edges/hard turns. I moved it up or down a couple of inches to smoother rock in a couple of places. Anyone know if there is someone maintaining the line in there?

You need a boat / kayak to get to it.
