There is a cavern about the size of the Ginnie ballroom. At the bottom of the cavern, around 90', is where it was dynamited. The hole is big enough for a small fish, but not anywhere near big enough for a human, even no-mount.

It is a nice cavern dive and a great place to go try out gear. Everytime I go there all I can think about is what a shame it is that it was blown up. I wish the cave protection law was retroactive and there was a way to force the county to dredge it so we could get in. Times were different back then but in my opinion the county should be liable for the damage.

I was down there a few years ago and some people had it out on the floating dock when we headed toward the cavern and it was in the water when we returned. Some of them flipped it off of the dock. Those tables are quite heavy and could have hurt someone badly if there was a diver swimming around it. It took 4 of us to pull it to shore. I said something to the kids on the dock but they all just looked away and said nothing.

I talked to one of the park folks yesterday and she was thrilled that some of y'all might be able to help. Yes, do please post here if you get a chance. The water is coming up from all the rain (yesterday it was up two steps since Monday) but as of Tuesday it was still clear.

So with the rain, it would be about 9.783 feet?

I can't make it but if you could get by Slidell tomorrow, I can give you what you need (2 / 250 lb closed bags, straps and hoses) and a good plan to safely lift and remove both. 9859601157 Mark Michaud

Rhino (STU) is gonna be there about 0900 tomorrow. He has a 250 lb closed bag, straps, ropes, and a manifold w hoses. I gave him a quick class (45 seconds). He is gonna tie the 2 tables together and place the bag underneath the bottom of of the lower table. He will secure the bag, valves down, and attach a hose that will run to the manifold on the surface. The manifold will use a bottle for air. He'll exit the water, add air and when it surfaces, pull the table to the shore with a rope that is attached for that task. Piece of cake. If anyone can be there to help he would appreciate it.
