WTB - Survey Paper

Does anyone have any survey paper they would like to sell? I am looking for the Rite in the Rain Durarite paper that Jason Richards designed. The paper is discussed in the thread below. I am looking for a pack or two.

Wow. That's the second time this week that I've heard someone mention Bob & Bob ( or is it just Bob now?). It's been at least 10 years since I've heard someone see or buy something from them.

The paper that Bob & Bob sells is the standard Rite in the Rain paper, which is good stuff for caving but not for diving. The "Jason Paper" is plasticized paper which won't waterlog and disintegrate when you try to write on it underwater. You don't have to get the "Jason Paper", but if you're using it for diving, at least make sure you get the plasticized stuff which you can buy with any pattern you choose. You have to buy custom runs from Rite in the Rain and are subject to minimum orders, but it's well worth the cost.

So, maybe it's worth getting a new group-buy going. I could organize it or would buy some from the buy, either way I'm happy. I'd probably run out in the next year anyway, so the timing is right for me.

standard Rite in the Rain paper, which is good stuff for caving but not for diving.

I have been using Rite in the Rain paper for 11 years doing fauna counts, and surveying, with great results. What I do find is that it doesn't work well with a standard #2 pencil, but I use graphite that I purchase from art sections of craft stores, similar to what comes with wet note books. I like being able to design my form, and run it through a laser printer.

Good point Kelly. I was surveying in TN this past weekend, and it was dry cave, so I took Jason's paper out, and use my regular "rite in the rain" paper in my book. The cave was flooded, my paper saturated and I had a pretty hard pencil. Good luck trying to erase saturated paper. I do believe there's different versions of paper for dry caving, as the paper I had was from Inner Mountain, and didn't work well, but the person on book had some that was taking the water a bit better. It's hard to explain, but you can feel the amount of plastic in the paper which would make it a better choice. A softer pencil would do the trick, but I like to sketch with a sharper line, etc. Help Jason!?

Jason has some "dry" survey paper on the same stuff as his diving paper. It has inclination rather than depth. I have some you can use, until you can get some from Jason.

For as long as I've bought from B&B it's only been B. My last actual purchase was at an MVOR in 2005, bought 150' of PMI rope. It is sad really, the majority of stuff on the website is 'unavailable' or 'sold-out' I think he keeps the store for nostalgia now more than anything else.

Contact Rite in the Rain and tell them you want Jason's survey sheets. My understanding is that Jason placed a large order awhile back and that Rite in the Rain kept his design on file so they could print more as need arose.

I have a few packs around here somewhere, I'll look for them You can have them, if I can find, for cost of mailing to you. I also have a line measuring device for surveying that never seemed to sell well and probably not available anymore. It was sold by Dive Gear Express. You can have it for $100.00 plus shipping (I paid $300.00 for it).

Great! I will definitely take the paper. I will PM you. I had never heard of the device you are talking about but I found a thread about it on the CDF, (link below). I don't know if it will be of much use sump diving though. Does anyone else want it?

Did you contact Jason? I bought some from him a while back. If you looking for a large order Rite in the Rain is the solution.
